I chose this article in hopes to learn more about action based art. Specifically, how to write about action based art.
List some key elements that are listed about the research method.
Action based research method is described as needing to have recorded data over long periods of time, with multiple people and in many locations. Asking questions "who does what, when, where, and how," and "why". A 9x9 matrix was designed for action based research:
Activity x Activity: Can you describe in detail all the activities?
Activity x Goal: What activities are goal seeking or linked to goals?
Act x Space: What are all the ways space is organized by acts?
Event x Time: How do events fall into time periods?
Time x Event: How do events occur over time? Is there any sequencing?
Objects x Acts: What are all the ways objects are used in activities?
What is its definition?
Action based research is defined as examining one's own practice in order to improve it. It is on a case-by-case basis of research methodology. It focuses on only the relevant information to what you're studying.
What preparation would you need to complete if you wish to utilize this research method?
I would need to continue gathering data all day everyday when in the studio and not in the studio of all things related to my main themes for my capstone: "sense of other", invisible vs. visible. I would have to create some sort of data collecting chart or diagram that would be easiest to track all my data.
You may or may not have a clear idea on your research inquiry...but as you are getting closer, How can the research method you investigated help you research YOUR inquiry and achieve your goals?
Action based research methodology can help me towards my inquiry by tracking my progress and therefor achieving my goals more clearly. I would have more evidence in a timeline for each goal.
