Which approach(es) among those discussed in the article have you utilized in your own past research? (in art history or studio courses)

Explanation research for an art history research paper. I was researching the correlation of mental health and great artists. I got a poor grade on the paper because I needed exploration research to fill in the missing gaps I had.

What genre would you utilize to categorize this research?

Evoke, provoke and unsettle! This has been my genre of art making, research, personal inquiries of interest to me. Evoking wicked problem topics, provoking an audience and resulting in severely unsettling emotions is my speciality.

What method did you apply to conduct the research?

I only read peer reviewed articles within my broad research questions (not great research questions) and stitched together pieces of famous artists who had undiagnosed mental health disorders (because the disorders did not exist yet; mental health did not really exist or was not prioritized), like Jackson Pollock, Leonardo da Vinci, Willem de Kooning, etc. I scraped together a literature review trying to correlate mental health disorders are a large factor in well known, famous artists and artwork.

After reviewing your previous research, please think about and briefly state which approach and methods introduced in the chapter you may be interested in experimenting to integrate visual study with your secondary field?

Evoke, provoke and unsettle, explanatory, evaluative and descriptive research. These approaches and methods of research have been working for me in my previous and current research when connecting my three disciplines and I'd like to continue mastering these research methods.

Why? What knowledge or understanding might they help you gain/investigate?

More knowledge or understanding in connecting art and psychology in a simple yet elegant way with further effectiveness. I want it to be easier for me to do this; I have a bad habit of making things more complex than they need to be and harder for myself.
